About
Helen Taylor
Child, Adolescent & Adult Counsellor
I am a fully qualified counsellor, with specialist training in working with children and adolescents, with whom my model combines talk and play based counselling. Alongside my private practice I work in schools, with significant experience counselling in both primary and secondary settings.
My counselling approach is integrative: which means I draw on a range of theories, relational: which means I view the collaborative therapeutic relationship as central to the process, and pluralistic: which means I am responsive to the unique needs and preferences of each client.
Building on a previous career in consumer psychology and research, I am a committed practitioner-researcher, keeping up-to-date with the latest knowledge on child and adolescent emotional development and counselling practice. My independant research has been published in academic counselling journals and I serve as a peer reviewer
advising on qualitative research approaches. I have specialist research interests in parent-child relationships and personal development across the lifespan with a focus on transitional moments and experiences.
